2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The entry-level Silverado WT has 17-inch steel wheels and a locking tailgate, but if you step up to the Custom, it has 20-inch alloy wheels, body-colored trim, and LED lighting in the bed. Choose the Custom Trail Boss for skid plates, or get the Z71 off-road suspension package for Rancho shocks and all-terrain tires. The LT comes with chrome exterior trim, LED headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the RST has 18-inch alloy wheels, LED foglights, and LED taillights. Step up to the LT Trail Boss for LED headlights and taillights, and if you opt for the ZR2 Package, you'll get off-road extras such as 33-inch all-terrain tires, off-road adaptive dampers, and upgraded skid plates. Choose the LTZ for 20-inch alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors, and a power tailgate, or go for the High Country for running boards, a spray-in bedliner, and upgraded LED headlights.

The list of engines for the Silverado 1500 starts with a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 310 horsepower. A 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower is available, or you can get a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower. The last engine in the lineup is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Chevy offers the Silverado with both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. The base engine moves the Silverado with authority, but the V-8s and the diesel give it extra towing power. When fully equipped, the Silverado can pull up to 13,300 pounds.

There's room for up to six in the larger Silverado 1500 cabs. The cabin has a modern, upscale feel, especially at the higher trim levels. The mid-level LT trim has a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The LTZ has leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and front bucket seats with a center console. A 13.4-inch touch-screen comes in the LT and above, and it works with a Google-based voice control system. You'll also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, several USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Silverado comes with a long list of available driver aids. These include a lane-departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic braking, automatic high beam headlights, a rear seat reminder, and GM's Teen Driver system. A surround-view parking camera is available, as well as a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, a safety alert seat, and adaptive cruise control. The High Country trim offers GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system. This allows for hands-free driving over hundreds of miles of U.S. highways. The LTZ and High Country also offer a head-up display, a rear camera mirror, and adaptive cruise control.
